Comfy Snail
A snail crawls up the stairs and looks at you kindly. For me, snails embody the antithesis to the pressure of time and performance in our society. Stairs also slow things down. To climb stairs we have to use more strength and concentrate on the steps. A staircase can be an opportunity to focus consciously on our body and our breathing and so escape the pressure of time for a moment. The snail keeps you company.

Formerly working as a textile designer, Effi Bannister today loves nothing more than creating complex patterns and realising them on a large scale. When she creates her pattern art she dives in completely and only comes back to the surface once simple basic shapes have turned into a perfect mix of harmony and friction. Effi’s work is characterised by a strong affinity for complex patterns. Her visual language is marked by clear lines and surfaces. In her pictures she lets bright colours dance and structures surfaces through black and white contrasts.
