Fredinko is an artist, cartoonist and advertiser. He published his first cartoon at the age of 14 — since then, outlines and deadlines have defined his everyday life. In addition to his later career in advertising, he worked on an artistic signature that he himself located “somewhere between pop art and neo-cubism.” This aesthetic originated in a father-son conflict: The father, an architect from the old Bauhaus school, required strict geometric forms, while the rebellious son relied on organic, free lines. In Fredinko's work, both poles are now merging, sometimes order dominates, sometimes chaos. The Swiss with German-Hungarian-Slovakian roots became known primarily for his live performances, when he fills huge canvases with idiosyncratic drawings and invites the audience to color along. He now lives with his family in Adliswil, where he also runs his studio.
